Golden Dreams Therapeutic Riding Center

Volunteer with Us

At Golden Dreams, we l-o-v-e our volunteers! Without their help, Golden Dreams would not be possible—we really cannot ride without them (you?)! If you love to help, whatever your interest, we likely have a place for you…

Here are some things prospective volunteers should know:
  • You’ll have fun and learn a lot—and not just about horses
  • No horse experience is necessary
  • Minimum age for assisting with lessons is 14. Volunteers younger than 14 are eligible to help in the barn and with other activities. Volunteers under the age of 18 need to have parental consent.
  • You will need to attend an Orientation Session covering horse care, safety procedures, disability awareness
  • For continuity and training, we ask that our program volunteers are able to commit to at least one 3-hour time slot each week for the duration of a program’s session
Here are some of the way volunteers can help:
  • Assisting with lessons as side-walkers or leaders (side-walkers provide stability and support to nonindependent riders; leaders handle the horse for nonindependent riders)
  • Horse care (feeding, grooming, tacking horses, etc.)
  • Pasture, barn and facility upkeep and maintenance
  • Fundraising and special events
  • Office help
Professional Services. If you are an accountant, lawyer, graphic designer, farrier, veterinarian, physical therapist, occupational therapist, recreational therapist, etc., please consider a contribution of your time.
